The goal of this photoshoot was to show the endless possibilities of getting married at one of the most unique wedding venues in the Midwest; the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Other than the jousting, costumes, and turkey legs that the Renaissance Festival is known best for, it is also a beautiful place that many couples choose as the perfect spot for their wedding or vow renewal.
Due to the wide variety of venues within the Festival grounds, the photo shoot was expanded to include 4 distinct wedding styles, represented by different models. The styles of venues within the grounds also reflect the styles of weddings most common today: Rustic, Traditional, Glamorous, and Bohemian.
Throughout the week leading up to the photoshoot, the threat of rain and thunderstorms grew greater and greater until there was no choice but to move the date to one day sooner. Because of the change, new hair and makeup artists and one new model had to be found in less than 24 hours! Many hours and a few miracles later, everything was once again all set for the massive photoshoot.
1. RUSTIC
Models, Slav and Anya Skorykh (aka our Forever Bride photographer, Innate Light) were the perfect pick for the rustic wedding couple. Married only a few weeks before the photoshoot, they still buzzed with newlywed contentedness and were very excited to “get married all over again”. For this photo set, they used a twist on the popular burgundy color palette by swapping it out for a more vibrant red. Anya’s messy braided look and Slav’s floral tie kept their set more casual and youthful. The fair’s water wheel and vineyard, as well as their popular reception site, Bad Manor, fit their style perfectly.
How adorable is this couple? Slav of Innate Light was our official photographer for our Cafe Lurcat styled shoot… and needless to say, he is INCREDIBLE.
SO MAGICAL.

2. TRADITIONAL
The more traditional model pair, Jens Lund and Delaney Dekok, worked great together despite being almost complete strangers! For this set, a timeless color palette of peaches and pinks were mixed in with touches of yellow and wintergreen. The full tulle skirt that took 3 people to carry and jeweled hair vine completed the romantic look. King’s Gate’s soft colors and dramatic presence worked well with their traditional wedding look.
Plated in elegance and pure class, Apres Event Decor & Tent Rental classed up the naturally stunning venue. We’re always teaming up with them on our Forever Bride styled shoots and they never disappoint. One of our favorites to date is this Contemporary Couple wedding-inspired day.
WHAT.A.FAIRYTALE.
3. GLAMOUR
Katie Rapley, the singular model, gushed with sophistication and elegance. Her bold makeup, loose curls, and intricate gown made glamorous statements. They opted for intimate bridal moments on their King’s Gate Bridge and Royal Vintry. Katie adored her crystal hair-piece and the lace train. A committed Festival-goer herself, she even brought her costume for what could be a post-ceremony party outfit!
4. BOHEMIAN
The fourth look by Savannah McBrayer and Jazer Mauricio wrapped up their mammoth photoshoot with a bohemian set. The florist created a beautiful flower crown and dramatic bouquet full of lush greens and purples ranging from soft lavenders to deep eggplant. The minimal gown added simple sophistication to the bohemian style. Jazer, who volunteered to take the vacant model spot that the date change had left behind, loved his bold boutonniere. Their popular Secret Garden ceremony site, Irish Cottage, and Kings Arbor were perfect locations for their photos.
Uffda (a word in true Minnesotan style). After 9 hours of shooting in the 95 degree day, they had accomplished their goal and ultimate vision.
“We will always be grateful to our amazing vendors who were so adaptable and generous,” the Renaissance Festival staff wrote to us.
