The bride grew up spending time at her cousins’ 100 year old family farm. Between all her school breaks, she would be there playing ‘kick the can,’ chasing barn kittens, and riding horses. So naturally, when choosing a wedding venue, she was instantly drawn in by all the animals roaming free throughout the farm at Barns of Old Glory. From the goats crawling around, to the horses galloping in the fields, to the flower-eating zebras, it reminded her of the good ole days on the family farm.
Once Angelia + Christian finalized their wedding venue, they utilized their love for fresh air, natural colors, bonfires, and camping to create a relaxed, boho feel for their special day. Currently living in Minneapolis, they enjoyed venturing out of the city limits and basking in the natural surroundings.
Okay, let’s get rolling into all this boho, relaxed farm wedding goodness..
P.S If you’re wanting a barn wedding but don’t want to spend a fortune, we’ve got you covered. Our vendor, The Greenfield Barn is offering Forever Bride brides $1000 off wedding packages and an extra + 15% off your entire wedding flower order through M Flower Studio! See more details here.
Flower crowns are still popular and we’re way too happy about it. We love DIY and florals. Put ’em together and BAM.
So darling.
Their “first look” moments were taken on a bluff overlooking a Minnesota river valley. This was where they originally had planned their outdoor ceremony, but possible thunderstorms moved the wedding indoors. Fortunately, the venue had a smaller barn ready to use. (But it turned out GORGEOUS…. just wait till you see it!)
Wedding Day Diamonds crafted this gorgeous wedding ring. Which, by the way, they are a Forever Bride vendor + offer $100 off wedding bands.
The bride notes that this flower-eating zebra became the highlight of many guests’ Instagram feeds.
And we can totally see why!!
With short notice due to the thunderstorms, they lined the aisles with lush green ferns in copper pots and made the best of it!
See?!! Outdoor weddings moved indoors are still just as beautiful. No events go perfectly as planned, so always prepare flexibility with an open mind. We think indoor barn weddings add more romance, intimacy, and coziness. What are your thoughts?
And of course, you can never go wrong with trolleys as your wedding transportation. But then again, there are lots of fun options.
For their reception, they spent the spring hunting for driftwood on the beaches of Lake Superior for the tables. Barn boxes, masons, and driftwood mixed with succulents, grasses, and a variety of white flowers covered the tables.
So sweet.
Angelia’s advice for future brides: “Accept the unpredictable and don’t stress when it happens. It’s worth spending your energy creating positive moments instead of solving issues… so spend a little extra and time and money to hire a day-of planner to delegate and take the stressful things off your plate.”
Most of their wedding party and even some guests stayed at a campground just a mile away from the venue. The bride + groom did, too. In fact, they spent the rest of the evening with their closest family and friends, continuing the celebrations late into the night.
Sounds like fun, huh?! Congratulations you two!
