Along the frosty shores of Lake Superior,Tettegouche State Park is nestled among tall pine, cascading waterfalls and rocky cliffs.
Not only is it a beautiful landmark of Minnesota, but it’s been a special place for Sarah + Michael. Fans of the outdoors, they visited Tettegouche State Park every year in the fall while they were dating. The North Shore was––and is––their favorite Minnesotan getaway and once you see these pictures, you’ll know why!
One crisp, autumn day while walking along the park’s shoreline, they were admiring how beautiful the park was. Michael turned to Sarah and said,“Maybe we should just get married here someday.”
During the following year’s visit, they were even more serious about getting married there. They excitedly planned where their family would sit and where they would stand to exchange vows. By the time they got engaged, they knew exactly where they would hold the ceremony––along the stunning shoreline at Tettegouche.
This was Sarah’s most cherished memory of her special day––walking down to the beach with her parents and catching a first look at her groom as he stood waiting for her. Ah, *goosebumps*
Sarah tells us, “It was the most beautiful, sunny afternoon. I could hear the music playing from the beach and I was just so excited that it was finally happening! After I walked down the trail with my parents and reached the beach, it was almost surreal seeing Michael waiting for me, with waves at his feet and the lake in the background. It was the moment that we had been talking about for years and it turned out perfectly unforgettable.”
Anna Nesseth captured the day perfectly.
Are you planning a fall wedding, too? Here are the fall wedding trends we love!
While Sarah + Michael were tying the knot on the Tettegouche beach, Kirsten of FabEvent Design was not only arranging all of the gorgeous florals, but was also setting up the reception decor. Sarah gushes, “She has an eye for making things beautiful and truly made the ballroom look perfect down to the smallest details. It was such a relief knowing that the minute my guests stepped into the ballroom, everything would be set-up and beautiful.”
The reception was held at Greysolon Ballroom, Moorish Room in Duluth. Chandeliers and hand-painted murals accompanied the newlyweds and their guests with romance and class. Such a fairytale!
Psst. Greysolon Ballroom is one of our vendors, which means they have an exclusive deal for you Forever Bride members. Check it out here.
Sarah has great advice to brides currently planning their wedding: “Relax, don’t sweat the small stuff, and have a day-of coordinator to take the stress out of set-up and tear-down. I was fairly uptight about worrying about all of the little details, making sure everything was in line and would end up being perfect. My family, Michael’s family and my personal attendant, Hannah, were so great about making sure things were perfect and taking all of the stress off of me on my wedding day. There was nothing to stress about because they were helping me relax and making every detail of the day go perfectly.”
Don’t be afraid to take Sarah’s advice on hiring an event coordinator. We have many talented wedding planners that would be happy to ease your stress.
What a sweet wedding. Thanks for sharing your beautiful day with us, Sarah + Michael!
