Alexia and Nate created a “preppy chic” wedding celebration set in an industrial location overflowing with character. This wedding is extra special due to Alexia being a part of the duo that makes upWhimsy Events & Design“” one of Forever Bride’s talented vendors! Whimsy was responsible for all the beautiful wedding floral, wedding design and wedding styling for Alexia’s day. They infused the event with the couples’ fun sense of humor and modern aesthetic.
The event took place in the Day Block Building in downtown Minneapolis. The wedding ceremony included a good amount of humor and was overflowing with heartfelt sincerity. Family played an important role in the ceremony; the groom’s cousin officiated the wedding while the bride’s father came up to read a segment of Dr. Suess’ “Oh The Places You’ll Go.” Over a thousand cranes hung from the ceremony ceiling creating the perfect backdrop for their city affair.
The guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with signature drinks. A cocktail dubbed “The Giddy Groom” was a Makers Mark manhattan was made for the gentlemen while the ladies sipped on “The Bushing Bride” which was a pink passionfruit cocktail. The guests enjoyed sweeping views of beautiful downtown Minneapolis while taking in a slideshow of family members’ old wedding photos. After the champagne toast, everyone danced the night away, but not before a surprise performance by the bride of Dust Springfield’s “Wishin and Hopin.” You could feel the love in the air all night long.
