Dark, ominous clouds rolled across the sky as large drops of rain began to fall. Rain wasn’t planned as part of Livja and Nate’s barnyard wedding in Henderson, MN – flooding was happening, roads washing away and the humidity levels rising. However nestled on the side of a hill of a farm was a little cabin that hid the happy bridal party away from weather while books were read, jokes shared, games played and the tiny button detail on the back of Livja’s dress paid attention to. The delicate gold necklace with their wedding date stamped on it (a gift from Nate) was removed as pearls finished off the bride’s look.
As the hour drew closer to Nate and Livja exchanging their vows, the rain slowed to a slight drizzle as chairs were brought out to the green pastures and guests appeared by bus to celebrate. Almost as if the storm clouds could feel the growing anticipation of congratulations and celebration, rain slowly stopped and changed to grey clouds and grey clouds slowly moved away to let the sun peek through and as Livja and Nate were announced as husband and wife.
With beaming sunlight over the barn, guests milled around while playing games on the grass, or swinging from the porch swing. Guests found their names handwritten on glass jars to hold their beverages, and made their way to tables numbered with handmade table numbers from door handles and wood. Instead of wedding cake, Livja and Nate chose different flavors of donuts and as the night wore on tales of college, and late night music made with household items filled the air with laughter.
Congratulations on your wedding and may your days continue to be filled with laughter!
