A romantic backdrop bursting with a bright color palette, elegant decor and a beautiful mansion, this styled shoot has a Kentucky Derby feel. There’s even a gorgeous brown horse in the mix!
Kristina of Kristina Lynn Photography & Design and Wanda from Blue Linden Wedding & Events were inspired by the mansion’s beauty and old world charm. This how is they approached the design of this shoot:
We chose to do an equestrian theme but wanted it to have an elegant modern flair – think rich tones, gold accents and of course sophisticated clothing for the couple.
Since we were shooting in the spring, we wanted to make sure the color scheme didn’t go too dark so the florist brought in pops of bright fuchsia and soft ivory tones to lighten it up. She also used items like artichokes and feathers to bring in some unexpected textures to her designs as well.
Forever Bride vendor, Kristina Lynn Photography & Design designed + captured the shoot beautifully. Let’s take a look:
The handwritten stationary by Pretty Writing fits in perfectly with the color scheme. Already loving this shoot!
Let’s talk about this gorgeous Compleat Couture bridal style for a second. They are a unique bridal store that is run by a non-profit that provides housing and supportive programs for single parent families who are experiencing a variety of challenges. They offer one-of-a-kind runway and store sample dresses from well known designers.
Kristina writes, “We knew we would find something lovely there [with Compleat Couture] but we actually fell in love with two looks!? The first one was a lovely satin gown that we paired with a lace jacket, beaded belt and feather hair piece to make for a very sophisticated, modern look. We added a long veil with lace detail on the edge for a few of the photos as well. The second dress we loved (which you will see farther down) was a gorgeous lace down that we styled with a sparkly broach and a few different hair pieces––one of which was a statement piece for a very fashion forward look.”
Isn’t he a dapper groom?! Which is exactly what they were going for. Polished with a custom designed suit from J Hillburn, the gray suit plays off everything so well. A look of sophistication yet edged with a modern touch.
The tables were decorated in a simple, clean yet elegant manner…
…which drew attention to the custom-made cake by Astonishing Cakes. Not only does it look mouth-watering, but It really pulls in the theme and colors of the shoot.
And of course, you can’t forget about the bar! The signature cocktail station featured Mile High Mint Juleps. It was styled with various decanters, riding boots and a riding helmet to go along with the theme.
To keep the look fresh and modern, two different sets of china were handpicked. One had a very clean look with a gold pinstrip around the edge, and the other had a very bold pattern to it. Silver flatware was incorporated to modernize the look.
You know what they say: an apple a day keeps the doctor away! And they double as such amazing, unique place “cards” too. The red napkins and apples popped rich color among the white plates and dark wooden tables.
Because the mansion’s rooms have such high ceilings, a grand statement was made with the tablescape. In which the gold pieces played off the deep dark wood perfectly.
Mesmerized by gorgeous reception table? Us too. We can’t take our eyes off of it! L Weddel Designs created the tall centerpiece to fill the space and add some drama to the table. Real riding stirrups tie in as candle holders for some interest.
This is the other look we were talking about earlier. Gorgeous, right?? Glam Team let down the model’s hair and clipped in a giant white hair piece. Love love love!
So romantic + inspiring. Thanks for sharing this styled shoot with us, Kristina Lynn Photography & Design! PS Don’t forget to check out her special deal for you Forever Bride members here.
